Bridgerton Actress Yerin Ha Reveals Painful Skin Condition Following Intense Bath Scene
Yerin Ha, the 28-year-old actress portraying Sophie in the fourth season of the popular Netflix series Bridgerton, has disclosed that she developed a painful skin condition after spending six hours filming a sex scene in a bath. In the show, her character, a maid with noble origins, falls in love with Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, 37, though their romance is delayed by social class differences.
Details of the Incident and Medical Aftermath
During an interview with Capital Breakfast, Yerin explained the circumstances leading to her condition. She stated, 'There's a scene where we are in a bathtub and basically I put baby powder all on me because I was told it would help dry my skin to put the intimacy wear on with my tape.' The next day, she experienced a severe reaction, developing hives all over her body and folliculitis, an inflammation of hair follicles that is both common and painful. Yerin required steroid cream to treat the issue and humorously blamed herself, saying, 'But I blame myself, because I think it was a combination of baby powder and the bath water. So it's me, I'm a sensitive gal!'
Social Media Reactions and Expert Speculation
The actress's revelation sparked significant attention on social media platforms. A TikTok user speculated that the intimacy wear likely contributed to the problem by creating a moist environment conducive to bacterial growth, commenting, 'its the water and the oil creating such a moist area for bacteria growth not her fault plus the intimacy wear causes moisture.' Other viewers expressed empathy and gratitude for the steamy scene, with one writing, 'I get the folliculitis babe. They are gnarly,' and another adding, 'It was a beautiful scene.'
Co-Star Dynamics and Filming Experience
Despite the discomfort, Yerin and Luke Thompson shared in an interview with Refinery29 that they overall enjoyed the lengthy bath scene. Luke described the experience as slippery, noting, 'We were like two seals, because they kept pouring in this thing to make it milky, but I think it had oil in it.' He praised Yerin as a scene partner, saying, 'I think Yerin takes the work seriously, but she doesn't take herself seriously. It's the combination of being like an amazing scene partner, in terms of actually being in the scene, but also outside, we just had a laugh.' Yerin reciprocated the sentiment, calling Luke a 'fantastic listener' with a 'great heart,' and appreciated him as a safe space for venting.
Bridgerton season four is currently available for streaming on Netflix, continuing to captivate audiences with its dramatic and romantic storylines.
