Bradley Walsh on Hosting Gladiators with Son Barney: 'It's Brilliant'

Bradley Walsh has opened up about working with his son Barney on the BBC's revived series Gladiators, describing the experience as 'brilliant'. The father-and-son duo are set to co-host the third season of the show, which returns this Saturday.

Speaking to the BBC ahead of the programme's comeback, Bradley, 65, said: 'Seeing the Gladiators push themselves, seeing the Contenders push themselves, the crowd going wild, and doing it all with Barney by my side is just brilliant. We have an absolute blast every time we're in the arena.'

Barney, 28, echoed his father's enthusiasm, adding: 'I absolutely love everything about it – the Contenders giving it their all, the Gladiators going full throttle, and the crowd in the arena are always absolutely buzzing. Being part of that, and doing it alongside my Dad, makes it really special.'

The new series introduces a challenge called Destruction, where two Contenders race through a course demolishing 8ft obstacles, with a Gladiator interfering. Bradley and Barney have expressed excitement about the new events, promising 'unbelievable edge of your seat moments'.

The series also sees the return of Gladiator Nitro (Harry Ai Aryeetey), who missed series 2 due to a knee injury. Other returning Gladiators include Apollo, Athena, Bionic, Comet, Cyclone, Diamond, Dynamite, Electro, Fire, Fury, Giant, Hammer, Legend, Phantom, Sabre, Steel and Viper.

Gladiators returns to BBC One on Saturday, January 17 at 5.45pm.
