Brad Pitt Returns as Cliff Booth in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Sequel

A surprise teaser for The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a sequel to Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, aired during the Super Bowl on Sunday 8th February. The film sees Brad Pitt reprise his Oscar-winning role as stuntman Cliff Booth.

Tarantino penned the script but handed directing duties to David Fincher, who has previously collaborated with Pitt on Seven, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The cast includes Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany and Timothy Olyphant.

The teaser shows Cliff recounting the events of the original film to Debicki's character, with swearing, nudity and violence censored by blue scratch marks. No release date was given, only that the film is 'coming soon'. It is being produced for Netflix and is expected to receive a limited cinema release.

Speaking on The Church of Tarantino podcast in August 2025, Tarantino explained his decision to step back: 'I love this script, but I’m still walking down the same ground I’ve already walked. It just kind of unenthused me.' He added, 'I think me and David Fincher are the two best directors. So the idea that David Fincher actually wants to adapt my work shows a level of seriousness.'
