Mark Gatiss has offered fans a glimpse into the second series of his hit 1940s detective drama Bookish, which returns to U&Alibi in August. The show, about a bookshop owner who helps police solve crimes, became a phenomenon after its first series launched last year, with viewers describing it as "mesmerising" and admitting they could not stop watching.
Marriage Troubles and Unlocked Secrets
Gatiss, who created the series and stars as the lead character Gabriel Book, spoke to Radio Times about what lies ahead. He revealed that while Gabriel's marriage to his closest friend Trottie (Polly Walker) has been successful so far, trouble is brewing. "Their arrangement suits them both, but it's not without its dangers. We'll see a bit of that, and we do see a bit more of it fraying at the edges," he said.
The actor also teased that "some of the secrets are unlocked and some questions are answered" in the upcoming episodes.
