Former EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier, who played Freddie Slater on the BBC soap, is set to leave the UK for America. The 23-year-old, who celebrated his birthday today, revealed in a street-casting video that he is moving to New Jersey, near New York City.
Brazier left his role on EastEnders last year, with his character embarking on a backpacking trip with on-screen girlfriend Anna Knight. Now, he is packing his bags for real, though he has not disclosed the reason for his transatlantic move.
Since leaving the soap, Brazier has devoted himself to the Hare Krishna movement, a branch of Hinduism. He has spoken openly about how his faith has brought him inner peace, particularly after the death of his mother, Jade Goody, when he was five. He regularly attends the Hare Krishna temple in Soho, London, and has moved out of his father's home in Essex to be closer to it.
In social media posts, Brazier has described his relationship with God as “absolutely everything that I’m looking for.” A family source said he is “trying to leave all the fighting and noise behind.”
