Bob Odenkirk has said he does not expect Better Call Saul to return to screens soon, but would jump at the chance if asked. The 62-year-old actor told Today that show creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould have moved on to other projects.
“I think they’ve all moved on to some more amazing projects that you’ll soon see,” Odenkirk said. However, he expressed keenness to reprise the role of Saul Goodman if the opportunity arose. “They are some of the best writers who ever worked in TV. So if they were to think of something in that world, of course I would do it.”
Odenkirk added that any revival would likely take place in prison, where Saul was sentenced to 86 years in the 2022 series finale. “He’s not getting out. If there’s another Saul show, it takes place inside prison.”
Reflecting on the role, Odenkirk said it turned his life around and he gave more to it than anything else. Yet he also told The Hollywood Reporter he is fine moving on from playing complicated criminal characters. “They’re guys who, for different reasons, have pretty big chips on their shoulders, and that’s hard to play after a while.”
Meanwhile, Gilligan’s upcoming Apple TV+ sci-fi drama Pluribus, starring Odenkirk’s co-star Rhea Seehorn, is set for release on 7 November.
