New Zealand crime drama Blue Murder Motel airs on ITV3 tonight (Sunday 4 October) at 7pm, with all episodes available to stream now on ITVX. The show follows married Australian police detectives Vinny and Cole, who have left their careers behind to invest in a 13-room motel in Mōwai Bay, a beachside town in New Zealand.
Plot and Cast
Only weeks into their new life, a dead body is discovered in Unit 3, and the pair help local constable Jamie — too inexperienced and by-the-book to solve much on his own — investigate the case, as well as a new murder each week.
The series, created and written by Kate McDermott, stars Michala Banas, Brett Tucker, Jayden Daniels, Stephanie Tauevihi and Jaime McDermott. It first aired in New Zealand earlier this year and has already been greenlit for a second series.
Fan Reactions
Viewers have praised the show as a binge-worthy cosy crime drama. One fan said: "We loved Blue Murder Motel! We think this is just the ticket with enough real intrigue and lot's of good feeling too. It is mixed with the right kind of good humor and excellant witty dialog."
Another added: "This a super fun show with loads of interesting characters! Watching American tv gets boring so this was a great change. Light and easy with regulars that are everyday people. The main characters have cute chemistry. Gives us a great glimpse of beautiful landscapes. I'd recommend for just a nice evening in with no heavy plot lines."
A different viewer commented: "Watched this one the recommendation of an amazing friends. Extremely glad I gave it a try! Great series that's lots of fun to watch. Great characters and is very well written. One of my favorite actresses's is a director of an episode or 2. It is a great drama that is not overly dramatic. You won't regret giving it a try."
