Blue Lights actress Andi Osho has said she hopes the hit BBC crime drama feels authentic to real police officers, as the show returns for a fourth series. Osho, who plays Sandra Cliff in the series, praised the writing of Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson, saying they capture the humour of people who work within the force 'so brilliantly'.
Cast discuss authenticity on BBC Breakfast
Ahead of the new series airing on September 29, Osho and her co-star Joanne Crawford, who plays Helen McNally, appeared on BBC Breakfast with Sally Nugent and Jon Kay. During the interview, the presenters praised the dialogue between the characters, calling it 'brilliant'.
Osho agreed, highlighting the 'amazing' jobs Lawn and Patterson do on the scripts. She said that people who work within the force need a sense of humour due to the situations they deal with each day, and that the writers capture that. She added that she hopes 'it feels authentic to officers', sharing that it feels natural when speaking the words on-set to her co-stars.
Filming in Belfast praised by cast
Crawford praised filming in Belfast and how the show has been 'accepted and supported' by locals. She detailed the research that goes into writing the programme, calling it 'immaculate', and said the stories are based on true events. Calling Belfast an 'up-and-coming city', she explained it was 'lovely' to get the arts of Belfast out to a bigger audience in a 'well-represented way'.
What to expect in season four

Alongside Osho and Crawford, viewers will see the return of Sian Brooke as Grace Ellis, Nathan Braniff as Tommy Foster and Katherine Devlin as Annie Conlon. In a special one-off episode, actor Richard Dormer will reprise his role as Gerry Cliff, following his death in season one. The character will appear in flashbacks as season four covers his murder trial.
Season four of Blue Lights airs Tuesday September 29 on BBC One at 9pm.
