Netflix's critically acclaimed thriller Black Doves is set to return for a second season, following the eponymous spies-for-hire organisation. The series was renewed even before its debut in 2024 and earned Keira Knightley a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a TV Drama.
Release Date for Black Doves Season 2
An official release date has yet to be confirmed, but Good Housekeeping reported it is expected to land before the end of 2026. Filming began in London around November 2025 and was scheduled to conclude after a 20-week shoot in mid-February 2026.
Plot of Black Doves Season 2
Season 2 will follow Helen's husband Wallace (Andrew Buchan) as he prepares to step into the role of Prime Minister. Helen will be reunited with her best friend Sam (Ben Whishaw). Netflix's official synopsis states: "As they search for answers, loyalties are weaponised, trust is shattered, and the fight to protect the people they love could cost everything."
Show creator Joe Barton said: "I couldn't be more excited to delve back into the world of our murderous little spy family. To have so many of our amazing cast returning and also being able to add some of my absolute favourite actors into the mix is such a great joy. Downing Street will never be the same."
New Cast Members
Alongside returning faces, several new cast members have been announced. Ambika Mod (One Day) will play Laila, an "acerbic and anarchic Black Doves agent sent to help Helen on a mission." Sam Riley (Control) portrays Patrick, an envoy from a mysterious organisation who throws Sam a lifeline. Babou Ceesay (Alien: Earth) takes on the role of Mr Conteh, a Black Doves executive with ulterior motives.
Sylvia Hoeks will star as Katia Chernov, Neve Campbell (The Lincoln Lawyer) as Cecile Mason, Goran Kostic (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Alexi Chernov, and Samuel Barnett (Not Safe for Work) as Jerry.
Black Doves season 2 will air on Netflix.
