Barbara Flynn has teased that a 'bombshell' is heading Humphrey Goodman's way in the fourth series of BBC drama Beyond Paradise. The actress, who plays Anne Lloyd, revealed that the development will pose a significant test for the detective.
Speaking about the upcoming episodes, Flynn said: 'At a certain point in this series, a bombshell drops. It makes Humphrey think, 'Oh my God, not only is Anne at home, but she's also going to be in my work now'.' She added that it will be a 'major challenge for both of them'.
The series sees Humphrey, played by Kris Marshall, solving crimes in Shipton Abbott. The Christmas special saw him marry his long-term love Martha, played by Sally Bretton. Marshall previously appeared on The One Show, hinting at drama ahead and noting his favourite case this series involves mermaids.
Beyond Paradise is a spin-off of Death in Paradise, which first aired in 2011. Marshall played Humphrey from series three to six before reprising the role in the Devon-set series, which launched in 2023. The fourth series began last week on BBC One.
