Beverley Callard's I'm A Celebrity Appearance Sparks Health Concern Among Fans

Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard, aged 69, has prompted significant health concerns among viewers of I'm A Celebrity... South Africa. This follows her recent appearance on the spin-off show, where she was seen tackling brutal trials just days after sharing a personal update on her ongoing battle with breast cancer.

Pre-Recorded Series Causes Viewer Confusion

Unlike the regular Australia-based series, the South Africa edition was almost entirely pre-recorded in September 2025, with only the live final scheduled to reveal the winner later this month. This production timeline led to confusion among some viewers who were unaware of the recording schedule.

Many fans took to social media to express their worries, questioning how Beverley could participate in such demanding physical challenges while reportedly undergoing cancer treatment. One viewer wrote: 'When was this recorded? I thought Beverly was going through cancer treatment and was ill? #ImACeleb.' Another commented: '#ImACeleb how bev collard here? Thought she at death door?'

Other messages showed support for the actress, with one fan stating: 'Aww Beverly great to see her with what she's going though recently routing for her.' A third added: 'I absolutely love Beverly a lovely lovely lady who I hope is doing ok at the moment wishing her love better heath and a full recovery.'

Fiery Jungle Confrontation

During Monday's launch episode, Beverley demonstrated her fiery personality when boxer David Haye sent her to the dreaded Savannah Scrub camp. After David emerged victorious against Gogglebox's Scarlett Moffatt in the Unlucky Lodges challenge, his team gained the right to decide which of the two women would be immediately dispatched to the basic Savannah Scrub camp.

David's decision to send the soap star did not go down well. Beverley furiously declared: 'David you're going to pay for that decision. I'm telling you now.' She initially claimed to have 'no hard feelings' before pausing and hilariously adding: 'Up yours.'

As she walked through the jungle, Beverley vowed: 'David Haye. I will get my own back on him.' Later in the evening, while joining Adam Thomas in Savannah Scrub, she made her continued fury towards David known, joking: 'Been a fan of his for years and years and years - not anymore I tell you.'

When Adam suggested she shouldn't make an enemy out of David, Beverley replied: 'I've thought about this, I'm gonna chin him.'

Recent Cancer Journey Update

Earlier this week, Beverley shared a video on Instagram to update her social media followers on her cancer journey. She captioned the clip: 'Just thought I'd do a little update on where things are... it's good to keep talking.'

In the emotional video, Beverley described receiving a phone call while on her way to a photoshoot. 'It said Caller ID and usually that's the hospital or one of the consultants from the hospital,' she explained. 'And it was and I thought, "Okay, this is it. The results" and it was one of the amazing cancer care nurses from Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, they are fantastic.'

The nurse inquired about her wellbeing, and Beverley reported experiencing 'quite a lot of soreness which I've not had for ages.' The nurse suggested she might be overdoing things, though Beverley noted she had 'had a lazy day today.'

Beverley revealed that test results were delayed due to a backlog, with hopes of receiving them the following week. She described the emotional rollercoaster: 'You know when your heart's in your mouth, this is it, it's coming now, any minute - and then, no, nothing.' Despite the emotional strain, she added: 'Anyway, I did it and you just do, don't you?'

The actress had previously revealed her breast cancer diagnosis in February 2026, just weeks after announcing a new job on Irish soap Fair City. Her appearance on I'm A Celebrity South Africa as one of the returning favourites has now created this unexpected intersection between her television career and personal health journey.
