The hit detective series Bergerac has been confirmed for a third series, with a star-studded cast joining the line-up. Filmed on location in Jersey, the show boasts an impressive 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes for series one, and its second season launched in April, with the finale airing earlier this year.
Returning Cast and New Additions
The contemporary reimagining of the iconic Jersey-based crime drama follows troubled detective Jim Bergerac, played by Brassic star Damien Molony. The original series aired in the 1980s with John Nettles in the lead role, and the reboot premiered in 2025 with 42-year-old Damien taking over.
Series three will see Damien return alongside Zoë Wanamaker as Bergerac's formidable mother-in-law Charlie Hungerford, Robert Gilbert as police officer Barney Crozier, Sasha Behar as Uma Dalal, Celine Arden as Kara Molloy, and Luke Nunn as Simon Calvert. New cast members include Black Mirror's Jason Flemyng as Alistair, Only Fools and Horses legend Tessa Peake Jones as Carol, The Long Shadow's Lee Ingleby as Dominic, and Doctor Who favourite Georgia Tennant as Laura.
Other guest stars include Sean Gilder (Slow Horses) as Les, Alexander Cobb (Grace) as Jake, Sule Rimi (Andor) as Jonathan, Matti Houghton (Believe Me) as Catherine, Liam Garrigan (Transformers) as Patrick, Elen Rhys (The One That Got Away) as Esme, and Sebastian Armesto (Gangs of London) as Edward. The six-part U&Original series is expected to be released in 2027.

A synopsis for series three teases: "Bergerac embarks upon his most shocking case yet, when his only significant lead in a suspicious death is a DNA match to Jersey's most notorious unsolved case - the Devil's Hole murder. To solve the case in the present, Bergerac must dig deep into the past as he uncovers evidence of a satanic cabal that goes right to the heart of Jersey society."
Meanwhile, with daughter Kim away at college, Jim might have met his perfect match in down-to-earth physiotherapist Laura, while Charlie's life falls apart after confronting a home intruder. Helen Perry, head of drama commissioning at UKTV, said: "Bergerac has become a firm favourite with our audiences, so we're thrilled to recommission it for a third series. The next chapter raises the stakes even further, with a gripping mystery that will keep audiences guessing until the very end."
Fans have taken to social media to praise the series, especially after it dropped on BBC iPlayer. One viewer said: "Two of my favourite detectives are back on our screens. #Bergerac is on BBC2 and #VanDerValk is back on Sunday evening on ITV1."
