The second series of the revived detective drama Bergerac will premiere on 16 April on U and U&DRAMA, with a new trailer teasing the 'most challenging case yet' for the titular detective.
Damien Molony returns as Jim Bergerac, the complex detective who faces a disturbing incident at a wedding on Jersey. The bridegroom is found dead in his hotel room, and his dying words may hold the key to identifying the killer. The trailer hints at danger and impulsiveness, with a voice-over warning that Bergerac is 'dangerous to be around'.
Alongside the crime plot, the series explores Bergerac's personal life as he begins dating again after his wife's death. He meets Nicola (Camilla Beeput), a visitor to the island, and they form a connection. Meanwhile, his mother-in-law Charlie Hungerford (Zoe Wanamaker) finds romance with Nigel (Adrian Edmondson).
The original Bergerac, starring John Nettles, was a hit in the 1980s. The rebooted series, which also features Lesley Sharp, Charles Dale, Turlough Convery, Georgina Rich, and Jonathan Aris, continues the legacy with new cases and character developments.
