Kate Garraway jokingly declared Ben Shephard 'dead to us' after the former Good Morning Britain host described his new role on This Morning as 'generally more civilised'. Ben, 49, left Good Morning Britain in February after a decade on the programme to co-host This Morning alongside Cat Deeley. Speaking about the change, he said: 'They cook for us, we get a lie in and it's generally more civilised.' He added that his 10 years on GMB were essential preparation for his new gig.
Kate, 56, responded by shaking her head and pushing past Ben, pretending to storm off while saying: 'He's dead to us, he is dead to us.' The exchange came as Ben reflected on leaving his 'on-screen wife' of nearly 20 years, describing the decision as one of the hardest of his career.
Ben expressed gratitude to fans for their 'lovely messages' following his first week on This Morning. He said: 'I'm now fasting over the weekend to make room for more next week! See you Monday I hope!' The new permanent hosts, Ben and Cat, have received a mixed reaction from viewers.
