Ben Miller has delighted fans by revealing that the fifth series of his ITV detective drama Professor T will be available to stream early in the United States. The actor, best known for playing Detective Inspector Richard Poole in Death in Paradise, shared the update on Instagram.
US streaming details announced
In his post, Miller wrote: "Exciting News… On Sunday, August 9th, all six episodes of Professor T Season 5 will be available early to stream in the US with PBS Passport and PBS Masterpiece on Prime Video, ahead of the broadcast premiere on Sunday, October 18th."
The announcement drew an enthusiastic response from fans, with one commenting: "Great news! I love this series!" Another praised the show's success, writing: "The measure of success for a tv series is knowing that viewers plan their social lives around the show's schedule. In this case, Professor T is a great success!" A third fan noted the UK delay, saying: "And yet in the UK we still haven't had series four which premiered a year ago elsewhere. Good news though!"
UK fans await series four
UK viewers will not have to wait much longer for series four, which ITV has confirmed will premiere on ITV1 at 9pm on Wednesday, August 19. The new series arrives more than two years after the third series ended in May 2024, and it has already aired in the US nearly a year ago.
The upcoming series follows the dramatic events of the series three finale, in which DS Lisa Donckers was seriously injured in a hit-and-run. The aftermath of that incident will be central to the new episodes.
According to ITV, the series will see Professor Jasper Tempest investigate a boxing match that ends in bloodshed and a series of mysterious sudden deaths at a luxury spa. The broadcaster also teased that fan-favourite characters will face difficult decisions, with higher stakes than ever for the professor and his team.
Professor T is available to watch on ITVX.
