A contestant on BBC's The Wheel was left empty-handed after two incorrect guesses on the popular quiz show, a result host Michael McIntyre described as extremely rare. Gillian, the unlucky player, first faced a £26,000 question with the help of reality TV star Mark Wright.
The question asked: 'Which country is the world's largest producer of coffee? Brazil, Colombia, India or Kenya.' Gillian and Wright chose Colombia, but the correct answer was Brazil, wiping out the top prize.
Gillian then had a second chance at a £13,000 question with comedian Katherine Ryan. The food-related question asked which of four restaurants opened in the UK first: KFC, McDonald's, Domino's or Wagamama. Despite Ryan's uncertainty, they both guessed McDonald's, but the correct answer was KFC.
Michael McIntyre noted that it is 'rare' for a contestant to leave with nothing, calling it a 'heartbreaker' moment. Earlier in the episode, another contestant, Jonathan, lost a £52,000 question with YouTube star Harry Pinero, who incorrectly guessed hammerhead shark when the correct answer was basking shark.
McIntyre closed the show by saying: 'We have no winner tonight, but thank you to all our experts. We'll see you next time – and hopefully we'll have a winner then – on The Wheel.'
