BBC's Top Earners Revealed: Who Tops the Salary List in 2024?
BBC's highest-paid stars revealed for 2024

The BBC has once again lifted the lid on its star salaries, revealing who takes home the biggest pay cheques in 2024. The annual report shows a mix of familiar faces and some surprising shifts in the broadcaster's pay structure.

The Top Earners

Leading the pack is Gary Lineker, the Match of the Day host, who continues to dominate the BBC's salary list with earnings between £1.35m-£1.36m. Close behind is radio legend Zoe Ball, whose Radio 2 breakfast show secures her £980,000-£989,999.

Other notable names include:

  • Claudia Winkleman (£830,000-£839,999)
  • Alan Shearer (£450,000-£454,999)
  • Greg James (£400,000-£404,999)

Gender Pay Gap Progress

The report shows some positive movement in gender pay equality, with women now making up 43% of the top earners - up from just 33% in 2017 when the disclosures began. However, the top three positions are still held by men, indicating there's more work to be done.

Salary Cuts and Surprises

Several high-profile presenters have seen significant pay reductions, including Fiona Bruce, whose salary dropped by £195,000 following her departure from Antiques Roadshow. Meanwhile, Huw Edwards remains absent from the list entirely after last year's scandal.

The figures also reveal that sports presenters dominate the top brackets, while newsreaders and weather presenters typically earn far less, with most falling below the £150,000 threshold.
