BBC Unveils Celebrity Traitors Series Two Teaser with Winkleman

The BBC has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming second season of The Celebrity Traitors, with host Claudia Winkleman returning for another series of star-studded treachery in the Scottish Highlands.

This autumn, 21 celebrities will compete for the chance to win £100,000 for a charity of their choice, as they attempt to identify which of their number are the murderous traitors.

Teaser Trailer Details

In the teaser released on Thursday, 27 August, Winkleman walks through the aisles of a church, asking the contestants for a moment of silence. Seated in the pews are an array of famous faces taking part in the second season of the hit BBC reality show, including Maya Jama, Bella Ramsay, Romesh Ranganathan, Richard E. Grant and Rob Beckett.

“Thoughts and prayers,” Winkleman says to the cast before leaving the church. “Who doesn’t love a dramatic exit.”

Broadcasters' Comments

The air date for the second season has not yet been confirmed, though the broadcaster said it would be “coming soon”. Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Thursday, BBC’s Director of Entertainment Ed Havard said: “Things happen that you didn't think could happen on Traitors and have never seen before.”

“I came from working on the US version, and it just shows how many surprises this show can deliver. I can't stop thinking about it. The paranoia is off the scale. So, we are very excited about it.”

He added: “Some of them are already getting ahead of themselves and are already texting me asking when they can be part of the all-stars version – even though we’ve only done two seasons so far.”

The BBC’s chief content officer Kate Phillips added: “We don’t pay (the celebrities) a lot of money – they do this because they want to play the game.” She also revealed this season would become emotional at times, adding: “There are tears in this season… they are fully invested.”

Previous Season Success

The inaugural series of The Celebrity Traitors was won by Alan Carr, whose murderous ways as a Traitor went undetected. The show, a spin-off of the civilian version that began airing in 2023, averaged an audience of 14.9 million – the biggest TV audience of 2025.
