The new BBC psychological thriller series The Rapture airs its first episode on Sunday, July 26 at 9pm on BBC One. The show is an adaptation of Liz Jensen’s 2009 novel and stars Ruth Madeley, India Amarteifio, and Iwan Rheon.
Plot and Cast
The series follows psychologist Dr Gabs Fox (Ruth Madeley), who becomes paralysed after a car accident that killed her husband. She starts a new job at a psychiatric hospital and is assigned 17-year-old Bethany Krall (India Amarteifio), who was sectioned for murdering her mother. Bethany’s father leads a spiritual movement called the Faith Way. Bethany draws disturbing sketches of storms, fires, and floods, appearing to know private details about Gabs’ life. With journalist Dick Carwyn (Iwan Rheon) and engineer Frasier Melville (Jack Farthing), Gabs investigates Bethany’s past.

Filming Locations
The Rapture was filmed on location across South Wales, including Port Talbot, Margam Park, and Dragon Studios in Bridgend. India Amarteifio commented: "I've filmed briefly in Wales before, but this is the first time I've spent a longer period here, and it's been unreal. I'm such a country girl, so it's been perfect." Iwan Rheon added: "It's always nice to come back and film in Wales. There have been quite a variety of locations. Margam Park is really nice. We filmed a lot in Port Talbot, and it was like 35 degrees, which is bizarre, because I don't think it's ever been that hot there."
