The BBC has announced the full cast for its upcoming Hercule Poirot series, with Edward Bluemel leading as the iconic detective. The six-part drama, set in the 1920s, will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2027.
Star-Studded Cast Revealed
Joining Bluemel are Henry Ashton, James D'Arcy, Calvin Demba, Phil Dunning, Jack Gleeson, Tamsin Greig, James Nesbitt, Guy Remmers, Rebecca Rittenhouse, and Mawaan Rizwan.
The series, produced by Mammoth Screen, will chronicle Poirot's origin story as he arrives in the UK from Belgium. It will explore his early friendships and cases, including adaptations of three of Christie's most celebrated stories.
Bluemel's Take on Poirot
Bluemel, 33, previously said: "I feel very lucky to have been trusted with such an iconic character who has been played by so many great actors. I can't wait to continue Hercule's legacy."
The series will begin filming in Liverpool soon. Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, added: "Hercule Poirot is one of the greatest and most loved characters of all time, and bringing him back to the BBC is a real privilege."
A Legacy of Adaptations
Agatha Christie's Poirot novels have sold over 750 million copies worldwide. The character has been portrayed by over 40 actors in film and TV since 1931, including David Suchet, Peter Ustinov, Albert Finney, and Kenneth Branagh.
