BBC Renews Hit Drama The Guest for Second Series

The BBC has yet to officially confirm a second series of thriller The Guest, but creator Matthew Barry has revealed that the show was always intended as an anthology. Speaking to the Royal Television Society magazine, Barry said the next season would explore similar themes of social mobility and class, but with a new cast and storyline.

Recent reports suggest development on a second series has begun, although the BBC has not commented. If greenlit, production could start quickly given the likely new cast, with a potential release date as early as late 2026.

The first series, starring Eve Myles and Gabrielle Creevy, concluded with a neat resolution for characters Ria and Fran. Barry confirmed that any future series would not continue their story but would instead follow the anthology format inspired by The Talented Mr Ripley and Parasite.
