Bookmakers have set odds for Carol Kirkwood's next move after the BBC Breakfast weather presenter announced she is stepping down from the programme. The 63-year-old, who joined the BBC in 1998, revealed this week that she wants to travel and spend more time with her husband, Steve Randall.
According to Casino Beats, the odds favour her appearing on Celebrity Traitors at 9/1, with an appearance on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! at 8/1. Spokesman Ollie Ring said: 'Carol will feel at home in the Scottish Highlands and is 9/1 to appear in the Celebrity Traitors castle later this year. A stint in the I’m A Celebrity jungle also can’t be ruled out now that her weekdays have become freer.'
Kirkwood, originally from Morar in Scotland, confirmed her departure in a statement, calling it an 'absolute privilege' to bring viewers the weather. She said: 'My job is something I’ve never taken for granted and I’ve loved every minute! From early starts and all manner of forecasts, I’ve shared it with incredible colleagues at BBC Breakfast, BBC Weather and programmes across the BBC.'
The presenter, who married police officer Steve Randall in 2023, added: 'This hasn't been an easy decision to make, but it feels like the right moment to step away. I'll carry with me the most wonderful memories.'
