Line of Duty Cast Hints at Potential Series 7 Return

Fans of the BBC crime drama Line of Duty have been eagerly awaiting news of a seventh series since the sixth concluded in 2021. While no official confirmation has been made, cast members have offered hints about a possible return.

Martin Compston, who plays Steve Arnott, initially dampened hopes in April, telling The Mirror there were 'no immediate plans' for a new series. However, by June, he appeared more optimistic, telling BBC Breakfast that the cast believes 'we’ve got one more in us at some point' and that creator Jed Mercurio 'wouldn’t do it just for the sake of it' but would need a story to tell.

Vicky McClure, known for her role as Kate Fleming, joked in May that she had a script for series seven in her bag, but quickly clarified she was joking and there was 'nothing to tell you.' Speaking on This Morning, she said the cast 'would love to go again obviously but there’s nothing to talk about.'

Adrian Dunbar, who plays Ted Hastings, echoed his co-stars' sentiments in May, telling the Belfast Telegraph that 'we all want it to come back' before he gets too old. He quipped, 'I don’t want to be coming back when we’re in a wheelchair. Ted Hastings with a Zimmer frame.'
