The BBC has confirmed a new eight-part romance drama titled You Are Here, starring Claire Foy and Matthew Macfadyen. The series is based on the 2024 novel by David Nicholls, best known for One Day, Us and Sweet Sorrow, and will be directed by Lenny Abrahamson, who directed episodes of Normal People.
The show follows Marnie (Foy) and Michael (Macfadyen), who embark on a coast-to-coast walk across the English countryside after being thrown together by a mutual friend. The synopsis teases: “Against the odds, they end up on the brink of a relationship that neither was looking for, but which might be exactly the one they both need.”
Cast and Creative Team
Claire Foy is widely recognised for playing Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix's The Crown, winning a Golden Globe and two Primetime Emmy Awards. Matthew Macfadyen, known for his role as Tom in HBO's Succession, also starred in Pride and Prejudice and Marvel's Deadpool and Wolverine.
The series is co-produced by the BBC and US network Starz, which has produced shows such as Outlander, Power and Black Sails. Filming will take place in the Lake District and around Manchester, with the walking trail beginning at the Lake District and finishing at Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire.
