BBC confirms Time season 3 as The Split Up replacement

The BBC has confirmed that Time, its hit anthology prison drama, will return to take over from The Split Up after the legal drama concludes.

The Split Up, the Manchester-based spin-off of The Split, has been airing every Sunday and Monday night, following the Kishan family. In tonight's grand finale, Monday, October 5, at 9pm on BBC One, Aria Kishan (Ritu Arya) faces a major decision as her wedding to Neal (Danny Ashok) approaches, amid her newfound feelings for Luke (Dimitri Leonidas).

Time season three debut date

Time season three will first air on Sunday, October 11, at 9pm, with episode two following on Monday, October 12. The new series will explore an entirely new story.

The official synopsis reads: "When tragedy strikes in the prison, Marie-Louise clashes with veteran officer Bailey, who knows more about the circumstances that led to this major incident than he is letting on."

Cast and previous series

Siobhan Finneran reprises her role as Marie-Louise, while David Tennant stars as Bailey. Time has featured notable British talent across its previous series: series one was led by Stephen Graham and Sean Bean, while series two starred Jodie Whittaker, Bella Ramsey, and Tamara Lawrance.

Finneran is the only recurring star across all three series. The Split Up is available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
