BBC Breakfast viewers have complained after the programme aired footage from inside a GP surgery. The segment, which showed the pressures faced by general practices, prompted some viewers to express discomfort on social media.
GP surgeries were already under pressure before the pandemic, but Covid has led to a dramatic increase in remote consultations. Practices have also been helping in the drive to get people vaccinated.
BBC South East's health correspondent Mark Norman went behind the scenes at a large practice in Faversham, Kent, to see how the system is coping. The footage was part of a report on the challenges facing GPs.
Some viewers took to Twitter to complain that the surgery footage was too graphic or intrusive, though the BBC has not commented on the complaints. The report aimed to highlight the enormous pressure on GPs during the pandemic.
