The trailer for the upcoming film "Focker-In-Law" has drawn criticism from eagle-eyed viewers who spotted an apparent editing error. In the teaser, released Wednesday, Ariana Grande joins the "Meet the Parents" franchise as Olivia, the fiancée of Henry, now grown son of Greg and Pam Focker.
During a bike ride scene, Olivia challenges Greg to a race. As they speed down a trail, Greg clips her back tyre, sending her tumbling. When she lands on her back, her face appears to be that of a stunt double rather than Grande.
Fans were quick to comment on social media. One wrote on YouTube: "The way you can see the stunt double in the [bike] fall scene — I can’t." Another noted on X: "The obvious stunt double is cracking me up lowkey." The Independent has contacted Universal Pictures for comment.
Despite the editing slip, many fans expressed excitement for the film. One user on X said: "A hilarious comeback for the Focker family, looks like another fun filled comedy just in time for the Thanksgiving holidays." Another added: "Looks so much better than I was expecting."
"Focker-In-Law" is set for release on 25 November, more than 15 years after the third film, "Little Fockers" (2010). John Hamburg, co-writer of the first three films, has penned the screenplay and will direct. Jay Roach, director of the first two films, serves as producer alongside De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, Ben Stiller and John Lesher.
The cast includes returning stars Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro and Blythe Danner, alongside newcomers Skyler Gisondo, Beanie Feldstein and Eduardo Franco. De Niro praised Grande as "probably the single most talented screen partner I’ve been lucky to share the screen with," while Stiller joked she is "kind of like the new Ben Stiller."
