Ariana Grande will not star in American Horror Story season 13 as initially planned, FX confirmed. The singer and actress was originally announced for the anthology series last Halloween, alongside veterans Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Jessica Lange, Emma Roberts, and Billie Lourd. However, scheduling clashes with her Eternal Sunshine tour forced her withdrawal.
Scheduling Conflicts Force Exit
Grande, 33, had not filmed any scenes for the upcoming season. Fans noted her absence when the cast was spotted filming outdoor sequences in New York. The singer rescheduled several Eternal Sunshine tour dates in late June, moving Brooklyn and Boston shows by a few days. Her tour continues with performances in Canada, New York, and London.
Cast and Premiere Date
Despite Grande's exit, previously confirmed cast members Frances Conroy and model Alex Consani have been seen on set. Other returning actors include Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Jessica Lange, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman. Avantika Vandanapu is also part of the cast.
American Horror Story season 13 premieres on Thursday, September 24, on FX in the US. A UK release date has not been announced, but it is expected to arrive on Disney Plus in September or early October, based on previous series patterns.
Plot Remains Under Wraps
The storyline for season 13 remains shrouded in secrecy, with no details yet revealed. The anthology series, created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, has a history of surprising twists and star-studded casts. Grande's absence marks a significant change, but the show's ensemble continues to generate excitement.
Grande's involvement was first teased in October 2025, generating buzz among fans. Her role was anticipated to be a major addition, but production delays shifted filming dates, conflicting with her tour schedule. The singer has not commented publicly on the exit.
