Ant McPartlin has opened up about his insecurities after pictures showing off his buff body on holiday emerged. The TV presenter enjoyed a beach day with his family recently, when he was photographed on the beach looking particularly ripped.
Opening up about the new snaps, Ant discussed his previous insecurities about his body. Explaining how he would have struggled with those snaps when he was younger, he now feels confident in himself and doesn't let snaps like these ruin his time with his family.
Podcast Confession
Speaking on their podcast Hanging Out with Ant and Dec, he said: "I've been papped on the beach. I did invite Dec but he was a bit under the weather. Went down there, had my little trolley that I had Wilder in and all the beach stuff.
"I never check the news when I'm away and someone sent it through this morning. Shirtless shots on the beach! The reason I mention it is because if I was in my 20s or 30s, that would have freaked me out that we were getting papped, that I was just in swim shorts, that it was a big deal but now I'm 50, I don't care."
Body Confidence
Insisting he is happy with his body, he added: "I look alright. I'm not ashamed to say; I'm not embarrassed at all. It was one of those things if you stress about it too much, it can really ruin your holiday and bother you.
"I had fun. It's just part of the job. It's really rare and I wouldn't have noticed it if a friend hadn't send it."
However, he was left alarmed by one photo of him standing next to his friend, where it looks like his belly is bigger than it is. He quipped: "There's a shot of me standing in profile and one of our friends is stood right next to me and his belly protrudes out and so it looks like my belly. At first, I'm like oh my god I look awful, and then I'm like oh that's not my belly."
Massage Parlor Anecdote
Ant previously opened up about how he risked it all after going to a "really good" Thai massage parlour with his wife. He recalled: "A friend of ours said, ‘Be careful, when you go there, they come in really quickly.'
"So I go in and I'm getting changed. The door slides open. My wife's in this one, I'm in this one. She quickly whips the dress off, pops the paper knickers on, jumps on the bed. I take my clothes off, I struggle to kind of get all the buttons done on my shirt.
"So I'm leaning over the bed to get the paper knickers and inadvertently flick the paper knickers off the bed to the other side of the bed. And I'm naked and everything's hanging out.
"They land on the ground. I'm standing like this to put my leg in, my leg's up. As I'm doing that, the door opens and [the masseuse] comes in. She can see everything and we just stare at each other for a bit too long. I went ‘not yet!'"
