A television adaptation of the beloved Confessions of Georgia Nicolson book series is in development for a "major streaming platform," with casting now underway for the pilot episode. The late Louise Rennison's 10 novels, published between 1999 and 2009, have sold millions of copies worldwide and are hailed as "comedy gold."
Pilot Episode Details
The pilot episode will carry the same title as the original novel, Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging. Casting director Rachel Sheridan, whose credits include Netflix's One Day and BBC's Amandaland, issued a casting notice on July 3 seeking adult actors who can appear as 15 or 16-year-olds. Sheridan said: "We're casting for a TV pilot for a major streamer: 'Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging' - based on the worldwide bestselling Confessions of Georgia Nicolson books! This is a really exciting opportunity for young people! Please share with anyone who might be interested!"
Original Film Background
The first book was previously adapted into the 2008 film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, starring a young Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Robbie, Eleanor Tomlinson as Jas, Georgia Groome as Georgia Nicolson, and comedian Alan Davies as Georgia's father. The film was a huge hit with fans.
Production Timeline
According to the casting notice, successful candidates must be available for pilot filming from late September through October 2026. If the series is approved beyond the pilot stage, availability from May 2027 through October 2027 would be required. Typically, a pilot serves as a proof of concept for executives; if commissioned, it becomes the first episode. Based on this schedule, a potential full series could debut in 2028, though nothing has been officially confirmed.
