Amy Dowden has opened up about her new role on Celebrity Hunted, saying it is harder than Strictly Come Dancing. The Welsh dancer appeared on Good Morning Britain with her Strictly co-star Carlos Gu to discuss the Channel 4 show.
A New Challenge
The celebrity special for Stand Up To Cancer sees famous duos on the run for 14 days, cutting off from their normal lives. "They must stay hidden, think fast and trust no one because the moment they leave a trail, the hunt is on," the show teases. This year's line-up includes actors Brian Conley and Lucy Conley, Love Island stars Chris Taylor and Toby Aromolaran, TV presenters JJ Chalmers and Sophie Morgan, property experts Scarlette and Stuart Douglas, and comedians Jen Brister and Laura Smyth.
Amy told presenters Adil Ray and Kate Garraway: "It's really hard, and the only break you get from one another is when you go to the bathroom." She added: "For us, we kept saying, this is harder than Strictly, it's so intense!" Carlos agreed: "100% harder than dancing."
A Personal Cause
Amy explained that the show supports Stand Up To Cancer, a cause "very close to my heart" after her own cancer battle. In May 2023, she was diagnosed with breast cancer after finding a lump before her honeymoon. She shared her journey through chemotherapy, a single mastectomy, and a near-death experience from septic shock. In February 2024, she announced she had "no evidence of disease" and fronted the documentary Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me.
Celebrity Hunted for Stand Up To Cancer airs on Monday, August 3 at 9pm on Channel 4.
