Amelia Dimoldenberg, creator of the YouTube interview series Chicken Shop Date, has revealed she is developing a young adult drama series for the BBC and a romantic comedy film with Amazon MGM Studios' Orion Pictures.

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Tuesday (August 24), Dimoldenberg, 32, described the drama as "my version of Skins" and said the development process had been "long" but she is "willing it into existence" as she did with Chicken Shop Date in 2014.

New projects beyond Chicken Shop Date

The online creator, who started Chicken Shop Date 12 years ago, is writing the BBC series, though the project has not yet been officially greenlit by the broadcaster. She did not reveal further plot details but said it had "always been a dream" to create a series for television.

Dimoldenberg also hinted she is set to appear in an upcoming romantic comedy film in development with Amazon MGM Studios' Orion Pictures, teasing that she hopes to "win an Oscar".

Growing media empire

The content creator, who has 2.9 million followers on Instagram, runs production company Dimz Inc and is expanding her media presence through passion projects. Chicken Shop Date has become a viral hit and a regular stop on the publicity circuit for major movie and music stars, including Jennifer Lawrence and Cher.

Despite the show's global success, Dimoldenberg said she would like to interview Timothée Chalamet next and has recently asked her team to find contact details for Pope Leo XIV and Miss Piggy from The Muppets.

No Royal policy and show format

She maintains a strict no Royal family policy despite fan requests for her to interview figures such as Prince William and Prince Harry. When asked by interviewer Manori Ravindran whether Meghan Markle could be an exception, Dimoldenberg replied: "I'm going to stand firm on my no Royal policy."

Each episode of Chicken Shop Date takes around 40 minutes to film, with the finished episode edited down to about ten minutes. Dimoldenberg describes her on-screen persona as "an exaggerated version" of herself, adding that "in the edit is where the character comes through, we chop and cut things, we make it more awkward".

She explained: "I often edit out the sincere moments or if anyone's being serious because i'm very specific on what the show is and if it don't fit the brief or you can see it in another interview, I'm not going to include it."

"I love watching serious interviews and listening to podcasts three hours long but that's not what I want to make. I'm just interested in making something that's specific to me and is ultimately funny and romantic in some way."
