Netflix has officially renewed the hit Japanese series Alice in Borderland for a third season. The announcement came via a post on X (formerly Twitter), which featured a cryptic video of the Joker card and the message: “You may draw another card. Alice in Borderland will return for season 3! The games will now begin.”
The season two finale, released earlier this year, left viewers with a cliffhanger as the gamemaster revealed the Joker card. The ending suggested that the characters, led by Arisu (Kento Yamazaki), had not fully returned to the real world, setting the stage for further storylines.
Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya are set to reprise their roles as Arisu and Usagi, with director Shinsuke Sato also returning. Supporting cast members Aya Asahina (Kuina), Nijirô Murakami (Chishiya), and Ayaka Miyoshi (Ann) are expected back after surviving the previous games.
Based on the manga by Haro Aso, the series follows Arisu as he is transported to a parallel universe where he must win deadly games to survive. After season two, Alice in Borderland became Netflix’s most-watched title in Japan and reached the Top 10 in over 90 countries, accumulating 200 million viewing hours worldwide.
A release date for season three has not yet been confirmed, though sources suggest production may proceed without the delays caused by COVID-19 between previous seasons. The first two seasons are currently available to stream on Netflix.
