Game of Thrones star Alfie Allen and EastEnders actress Jill Halfpenny are set to lead a new thriller for Paramount+, titled Girl Taken, which is scheduled to premiere in early 2025. The streaming service has released a first look at the six-part series, which was previously known as Baby Doll.
The show is based on Hollie Overton's novel Baby Doll and follows twin sisters Lily and Abby, whose lives are shattered when Lily is abducted from their quiet rural English town by a beloved local teacher, Rick Hansen. Allen plays Hansen, while Halfpenny portrays Eve, the girls' mother.
According to the official synopsis, Lily escapes after years of abuse in captivity, only to find that the world she longed to return to has moved on without her. As the family attempts to rebuild, they must confront the lasting trauma and the terrifying reality that Rick remains at large, determined to control the narrative and evade justice.
Tallulah and Delphi Evans will play the twin sisters, with Niamh Walsh taking on the role of an older Lily. The supporting cast includes Vikash Bhai, Levi Brown, Victoria Ekanoye, Holly Atkins and Kiran Krishnakumar.
The series has been adapted for television by David Turpin, Suzanne Cowie and Nessah Muthy, with Laura Way and Bindu de Stoppani directing.
