The One Show is preparing to celebrate its 20th anniversary this month with a week of special programmes featuring celebrity guests, memorable reunions, surprise moments and stories that have captivated viewers over two decades.
Alex Jones, who has fronted the BBC show since 2010, remains its longest-running presenter. She joined to host alongside Jason Manford and Chris Evans.
A milestone anniversary
Ahead of the celebrations, Jones spoke about her time on the programme and what she is most proud of.
"I'm most proud of the fact that I'm still here because to have a job that you not only love but you're really proud to do is rare over the stretch of time that I've been here," she told the BBC.
Proud of the show's resilience
"It makes me a bit emotional because I'm so proud of the show. It has withstood so many changes in trends, changes in the way people watch TV or whatever, it still stands and stays relevant."
She described the show as "still really strong in the ratings" and said it "would be really missed if it wasn't there at 7pm."
First guest and dream guest
Jones's first celebrity guest was American actress Whoopi Goldberg, whom she described as "very sweet."
Asked who she would like to appear, she named Jacob Elordi and the Prince and Princess of Wales. "I think that would be phenomenal. Our viewers would love that. I think we'd get a really lovely insight into them and we would make them nice and relaxed."
The One Show airs weekdays on BBC One at 7pm.
