Alex Jones has revealed that she was completely unaware of the allegations of inappropriate behaviour levelled against her former The One Show co-host, Jermaine Jenas. The 48-year-old presenter worked alongside Jenas from 2020 until his departure in 2024, when he admitted to sending unsolicited texts to a female staff member.
Speaking to The Big Issue magazine, Jones said: 'I thought he was taking extended leave. The BBC didn't share with me what was going on until they actually dealt with it. And, you know, they did what they thought was right.' She added that if her daughter were in a similar situation, she would hope the company would handle it swiftly.
Jenas, 42, was dismissed from The One Show and later from his role on Match of the Day. He has since claimed that the messages were exchanged between two consenting adults and that 'nothing illegal' occurred. His wife Ellie Penfold confirmed their separation after 16 years of marriage following the revelations.
Jones, who joined The One Show in 2010, reflected on her time on the programme, saying: 'I started on it when I was about 32 and the audience have seen me mature and grow up as a young woman.' She is set to return to the show on Monday, July 28 after a family ordeal involving her kitten.
