Adele is set to make her acting debut in Tom Ford's upcoming film adaptation of Anne Rice's 1982 novel Cry to Heaven, according to industry reports. The project will mark the fashion designer and director's third feature film, following A Single Man and Nocturnal Animals.
The singer will join a star-studded cast including Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Thandiwe Newton, and Owen Cooper, who recently gained acclaim for his role in the Netflix drama Adolescence. The 15-year-old Cooper became one of the youngest Primetime Emmy winners for his performance.
Set in 18th-century Italy, the story follows a Venetian nobleman and a castrated maestro from Calabria as they navigate the world of opera. The film enters pre-production in London and Rome this year, with shooting scheduled to begin in January 2026 and a targeted release later that year.
Ford previously expressed his desire to focus on filmmaking, telling GQ in 2023: 'I want to spend the next 20 years of my life making films.' Adele, who recently completed a series of sell-out shows in Munich, announced an indefinite break from music last year. She had previously expressed interest in acting after working with director Xavier Dolan on the music video for 'Hello.'
