Adele's Hollywood Debut: Singer to Star in Tom Ford's New Film
Adele to make acting debut in Tom Ford's new film

Global music phenomenon Adele is preparing for a significant career shift as she makes her official acting debut in a major Hollywood production. The 37-year-old singing superstar will appear in fashion designer Tom Ford's upcoming film, marking her first professional acting role four years after releasing her acclaimed album '30'.

Star-Studded Production Details

According to reports from US publication Deadline, the project will be an adaptation of Anne Rice's novel Cry To Heaven, with Tom Ford both directing and writing the screenplay. The film represents Ford's first directorial effort in nearly a decade, following his 2016 critically acclaimed film Nocturnal Animals.

Pre-production has already commenced, with filming scheduled to begin in Rome, Italy, in January 2026. The production will be set in 18th century Italy, offering a rich historical backdrop for the drama. Ford's own production company, Fade To Black, is financing the ambitious project.

Impressive Ensemble Cast

Adele will be joining an impressive ensemble of established and rising Hollywood talent. The cast includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Nicholas Hoult as her co-stars, both of whom have substantial film credentials. Owen Cooper, who recently won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in Netflix's Adolescence, has also been cast.

The production boasts an extensive supporting cast featuring numerous well-known British actors. Among those linked to the project are Colin Firth, Ciarán Hinds, Mark Strong, George MacKay, Paul Bettany, and Thandiwe Newton. Completing the impressive lineup are Daniel Quinn-Toye, Hunter Schafer, Josephine Thiesen, Theodore Pellerin, Daryl McCormack, Lux Pascal, Cassian Bilton, and Hauk Hannemann.

Adele's Career Evolution

This move into acting comes during a period of transition for the multi-Grammy Award winner. Last August, Adele announced she would be taking a break from the music industry following the conclusion of her Las Vegas residency in November 2024. Since ending her marathon of performances, she has maintained a relatively low public profile.

Her rare public appearance last month at the F1 Grand Prix, where she was spotted in the pit lane with the Mercedes AMG Formula One team and photographed with drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, offered fans a glimpse of the superstar before this major career announcement.

This film project not only marks Adele's official entry into acting but also represents a significant return to filmmaking for Tom Ford, whose previous acting collaborations include working with Colin Firth in the 2009 film A Single Man. With production set to begin in early 2026, audiences will have to wait to see the singing superstar's transformation into a screen actress.
