Actor Adam Scott has finally put to rest a long‑held misunderstanding with his former Boy Meets World co‑star Rider Strong. The Severance star recently confirmed that the awkward on‑set incident from the mid‑1990s has been fully resolved.
Scott, who played bully Griff Hawkins in the ABC sitcom’s second‑season finale, recalled approaching Strong to congratulate him on wrapping the season. “I go in to hug you, and as I do that, you push me off and you give me this look like, ‘Wait a second. Who the f— are you?’ And then, you run away,” he said on Strong’s Pod Meets World podcast in 2023.
Strong was taken aback by the story and apologised, insisting he had no memory of the exchange. “Are you serious? Why would I do that?” he responded at the time. Scott admitted he had carried the slight for nearly 30 years.
On a recent episode of Entertainment Weekly’s Awardist podcast, broadcast on 24 July, Scott reaffirmed that the one‑sided feud is now firmly in the past. “Rider Strong, who the awkward interaction was with, didn't even remember it. And I really, truly had been carrying it around for, it was like 30 years, because it was like 1994, '95. It's crazy. I feel like we addressed it. I think it's been squashed,” he said.
The Emmy‑nominated actor also reflected on the broader anxiety he felt early in his career. “That's really what I had to overcome. It took me 20 years to overcome. It's just being so freaked out being on a movie set or a TV set, because I was so excited about it, that I couldn't kind of calm down and just relax,” he added.
