Irish rock band U2 have announced their first studio album of new material in nine years, along with a new single titled Street Of Dreams. The as-yet-untitled album is set for release later this year, while the single was released on Tuesday, accompanied by a video shot in Mexico City, where the band attended the 2026 Street Child World Cup Finals Tournament at Parque Ecologico Lago Ae Texcoco.
New Single and Video Details
The video for Street Of Dreams shows the band—lead singer Bono, guitarist The Edge, bass player Adam Clayton, and drummer Larry Mullen Jr.—performing for fans in Mexico City. Filmed near Plaza Santo Domingo amid thunder and rain, the shoot caused a generator to crash. A local family welcomed the band into their apartment to film on the balcony. The clip sees U2 performing atop a graffitied bus to a lively crowd, drawing comparisons to the video for their 1987 hit Where The Streets Have No Name.
The single is released on Island Records and produced by Jacknife Lee. It comes as the band celebrates 50 years together in 2026.
Band's Legacy and Recent Releases
Since forming in Dublin in 1976, U2 have achieved seven UK number one singles and 11 number one albums. Their upcoming record follows Songs Of Surrender (2023), which featured re-recorded versions of old songs, and Songs Of Experience (2017). The latter was the follow-up to Songs Of Innocence (2014), which drew attention when it was automatically loaded onto iPhone libraries. U2’s best-known songs include Sunday Bloody Sunday, Beautiful Day, and Vertigo.
