After a long wait, the acclaimed medical drama The Pitt is now available to stream in the UK on HBO Max. The show, which won Outstanding Drama Series at the 2025 Emmys and Best Drama Series at the Golden Globes, has been hailed as one of the best new series in years.
Set in a cash-strapped Pittsburgh hospital, The Pitt unfolds in real time, with each episode covering an hour of a relentless 15-hour shift. Created by ER’s John Wells, it stars Noah Wyle as Dr Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, a senior attending physician. The Independent’s Jacob Stolworthy called it “one of the greatest new shows to have premiered in a long while”.
Season one is available to stream now on HBO Max, with season two rolling out weekly – current UK availability is up to episode five as of 24 April. Subscriptions start from £4.99 per month for the ad-free tier, with higher tiers offering HD or 4K streaming. Amazon Prime customers can also subscribe via Prime Channels.
The cast includes Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, and others as the hospital staff navigating personal and professional pressures. The format has been compared to 24, offering a stressful but compelling look at life in an underfunded emergency department.
