Netflix's 3 Most Disturbing True Crime Documentaries to Watch Now
Netflix's 3 Most Disturbing True Crime Documentaries

A film buff who reviews movies and TV shows professionally has named three of the most disturbing true crime documentaries currently available on Netflix, insisting that subscribers are wasting their memberships if they have not watched them.

Eccy Reviews, who shares his television and film recommendations online, told his TikTok followers: "You are seriously wasting your Netflix if you haven't seen these three documentaries. All three of these will have your jaw on the floor. But the last one is the most shocking documentary on Netflix."

Should I Marry a Murderer?

Kicking off his list with Should I Marry a Murderer?, the documentary centres on a fiancée who becomes a crucial witness after remaining engaged to a man accused of murder in order to gather evidence against him.

Elaborating further on the series, Eccy said: "This follows a young woman who meets this man online and after getting together, meeting the love of her life, she realises that there is something going on. After one too many drinks she begins to get the truth from him that he actually murdered and hid the body with his brother, and what comes next is genuinely insane."

American Murder: Gabby Petito

He then urged viewers to watch the harrowing true crime documentary about Gabby Petito, a 22-year-old who was killed by her fiancé, Brian Christopher Laundrie, in August 2021. Its IMDb description reads: "A young couple's cross-country van journey, documented on social media, ends in tragedy when domestic violence shatters their seemingly perfect life. Their story sparks a nationwide investigation and raises questions about family loyalty."

Eccy said: "The second one is called American Murder Gabby Petito, as this follows a young girl who decides to go travelling with her boyfriend, vlogging and recording the entire experience. And after a few days of her parents not hearing from her, they decide to visit the boyfriend's parents to see the camper van and him back home. But her daughter is nowhere. As they begin to investigate, you generally won't believe what happens, so make sure you get it on your watchlist right now."

Sins of Our Mother

Finally, Eccy insists Sins of Our Mother is "one of the best documentaries on Netflix" and says it left him utterly stunned when he watched it. It tells the story of how the hunt for Lori Vallow's missing children revealed a series of suspicious deaths, a new husband who embraced her apocalyptic beliefs and a disturbing murder case.

He said: "This follows a woman who, after having a child with this man, ends up leaving him, meeting another Man ends up having multiple children, has years of a relationship, and when she begins to get more devoted to her religion and goes to this church, she begins to have an affair with this man. However, he believes that he is some sort of prophet. He believes that her ex husband, her children are all the devil. And what happens next is some of the most insane and disturbing things you will ever see on television."
