Netflix has confirmed that the upcoming fourth season of 'The Night Agent' will be its last. Production on the final season began today in Los Angeles, with creator Shawn Ryan promising a 'proper and thrilling conclusion' to Peter Sutherland's story.
While the first season was a massive hit, breaking into Netflix's Most Popular English series list, viewership declined in subsequent seasons. However, Netflix data showed sustained fan interest, leading to the renewal. Season 3 was also well received by executives, with some considering it the best of the series.
To facilitate the move from New York to Los Angeles, Sony Pictures Television secured a $31.6 million California tax credit. Filming had to start by May to qualify. The final season will feature new cast members including Titus Welliver, Trevante Rhodes, Li Jun Li, and Elizabeth Lail.
Creator Shawn Ryan expressed gratitude to Netflix and Sony for allowing him to deliver a definitive ending. 'We are hard at work to complete our story and to make our final season one our fans will never forget,' he said.
