Bluey Tops US Streaming Charts For Second Year Running

Australian children's cartoon Bluey has been named the most streamed show in the United States for the second consecutive year, according to Nielsen's annual year-end streaming charts for 2025. The series, which follows a family of blue heelers, amassed 45.2 billion minutes watched on Disney+, down from 55.62 billion in 2024 but still remarkable given its 154 episodes, most under 10 minutes long.

Grey's Anatomy ranked second again with 40.9 billion minutes watched across 455 episodes. The dominance of both shows reflects a broader trend towards 'library series', with nine of the top 10 being long-running shows with extensive back catalogues, including Family Guy, NCIS and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Netflix's Stranger Things was the only original series in the top 10, with just under 40 billion minutes watched, boosted by the release of its fifth and final season. Nielsen's 2025 calendar ended on 28 December, so the tally excludes the series finale aired on New Year's Eve. Besides Bluey, SpongeBob SquarePants was the only other children's show in the top 10.

Bluey's creator Joe Brumm stepped away from the series in 2024 but will write and direct a full-length movie adaptation due in 2027. The season three finale aired in April 2024, and while a fourth season has not been announced, producer Sam Moor stated: 'It is not the end for Bluey. I'm sure we have many more surprises in store for you.' An ABC spokesperson also confirmed: 'We have no plans to end the show.'
