The miniseries 'All the Light We Cannot See' is now streaming on Netflix. Based on Anthony Doerr's novel that spent over 200 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, the four-part series follows two teenagers during WWII.
The novel, published in 2014, switches between the viewpoints of a blind French girl, Marie-Laure, and a German soldier, Werner. Their paths cross in occupied France.
Viewers praise the adaptation
One viewer on Rotten Tomatoes called it 'One of the most amazing war-related TV shows out there.' Another said it has 'a beautiful, moving storyline, wonderful actors.'
The series stars Aria Mia Loberti, Louis Hofmann, Mark Ruffalo, and Hugh Laurie. The story involves Marie-Laure helping her father protect a valuable diamond from the Nazis, while Werner is tasked with radio repair.
Faithful adaptation divides opinions
Some fans of the book were pleasantly surprised. One IMDb reviewer wrote: 'I was expecting that Netflix would ruin it. But after watching all 4 episodes I must say that didn't.' Another said: 'After reading the excellent book, my wife and I were captivated by the series.'
