Social Media Buzz and Local Reactions
Social media users shared their excitement about the Queen Consort's visit to her childhood hometown. One wrote: "Terrific! Home again!" Another commented: "I saw the helicopter in front of the college as I drove past; I wondered who it was. Congratulations, very cool."
A person on their way to the pub revealed they were stopped by a police motorbike and "thought in [their] head it must be the queen."
Wimbledon Appearance the Day Before
The visit came a day after Camilla made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon, where she watched tennis from the royal box with her sister Annabel Elliot. She was seen chatting to former British number one Heather Watson, Morag Ranford, Pete Dobson, and ball kids Zebedee and Aniya.
Camilla also surprised tennis star Arthur Fery, introducing herself and wishing him good luck before his match. Fery told reporters: "It's obviously an honour to play in front of her and it was great to meet her. She had some really kind words for me at the end, as well. So yeah, playing in front of tennis legends and now the Queen, it was really special."
