Princess Reunites with Convicted Son After Lung Transplant

Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway has reportedly reunited with her son Marius Borg Hoiby, who has been convicted of rape, just hours after she underwent lung transplant surgery, according to claims.

On Monday, Mette-Marit's son was found guilty on two counts of rape and was sentenced to four years in prison. He faced a total of 40 charges, including allegations of raping four women, domestic abuse, and other crimes. He pleaded not guilty to the four rape charges but admitted to several driving offences, an aggravated drugs offence, breaking a restraining order, and partially to threats and aggravated assault. An Oslo court cleared him of two other rape counts but found him guilty of many other offences.

Hospital Visit Under Tight Security

Scandinavian magazine Se og Hor claimed that Marius has consistently visited his mother over the past few days despite being in prison. He is said to have been moved to Ila Prison and Detention Centre on Friday. According to Hello! Magazine, Marius was allegedly smuggled into Oslo University Hospital through a back entrance to avoid photographers.

The crown princess's son, who was born from a previous relationship, has been in custody since his trial concluded on February 1. He is not a royal figure.

Lung Transplant Surgery

On Wednesday, the Norwegian palace announced that the crown princess had undergone major surgery. The wife of Crown Prince Haakon, diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2018, had a successful lung transplant at Oslo National Hospital.

Details of the Conviction

Marius was convicted of raping two women: one at his stepfather Crown Prince Haakon's Skaugum estate in 2018, and another in Oslo in 2024. He was also convicted of abusing an ex-girlfriend, Norwegian influencer Nora Haukland. However, he was acquitted of two other rape allegations, one involving a woman he met at a hotel in Oslo and another he met on holiday in the Lofoten islands in 2023.

The trial was one of the biggest in Norway's history, detailing the stepson of the future king's drug addiction, self-made videos of sexual encounters, and more than 800 electronic messages entered into evidence.
