Tom Cruise has heaped praise on Prince William and Princess Kate after they joined him at the London premiere of Digger, a contrast to the struggles Meghan Markle and Prince Harry face in building Hollywood friendships.
The Mission: Impossible star told ExtraTV: "I have so much respect for them. They're amazing people, and how dedicated they are to their country and also what they give to the world, they're just beautiful people."
Cruise also complimented the Princess of Wales' purple floor-length gown, saying: "Her dress, of course, both of them. They're so charismatic and so elegant. That dress she was wearing was stunning. William did well, smart choice."
Sussexes' Hollywood connections dwindle
Meghan's Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan features famous faces including Mindy Kaling, Abigail Spencer and Roy Choi, but some of those connections have dwindled since the couple relocated to the Cotswolds.
Neighbours including David and Victoria Beckham and Jeremy Clarkson have distanced themselves from the couple, showing clear allyship with Prince William and Catherine.
Meghan has also been dropped by her Hollywood agents, Ari Emanuel, who told The Sunday Times: "Here's the great thing: I don't have to think about that anymore."
Candle gift to Jenna Dewan
Hours after Cruise's praise, American actress Jenna Dewan posted a photo of a care package she had received from Meghan. The As Ever Mother's Day gift set featured two scented candles and a handwritten note.
Dewan wrote in the caption: "I promise you there is no candle you'll ever find that smells better than this."
An individual 8.5-ounce candle retails for $64 (£48) each, while a full four-candle set with luxury matches is priced at $25 (£18).
The Sussexes were said to be watching from the Cotswolds with "envy and anger," and may have tried to rope in a celebrity pal to promote a candle. It will take effort and time for Meghan to change this; perhaps she should follow Catherine's example and let her charitable contributions do the talking.
