A lip reader has disclosed what Princess Kate appeared to say to Prince Louis on the Buckingham Palace balcony during Trooping the Colour, as the young royal became fidgety ahead of the national anthem.
Princess Kate's Firm Instruction
Princess Kate apparently issued a simple but clear instruction to Prince Louis as the Royal Family made their highly anticipated appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony last year during Trooping the Colour. The young royal maintained exemplary behaviour throughout the King's birthday celebrations in 2025, despite many expecting some of his trademark playful antics to make an appearance. While Louis was largely kept in check by his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Princess Kate did need to give one brief instruction, according to lip reader Jeremy Freeman.
As the royals took their positions before returning inside Buckingham Palace following the Red Arrows flypast, Freeman believes Kate reminded Louis to stand correctly for the national anthem. The lip reader told The Mirror that Louis appeared restless as the celebrations drew to a close, prompting Kate to tell her children: "National anthem. Louis, stand." Louis then adjusted his posture and focused on the singing of the national anthem.
Conversations Between King Charles and Prince William
Meanwhile, King Charles and Prince William seemingly reflected on what a remarkable day it had been, praising both the military parade and the Red Arrows' spectacular aerial display. According to Freeman, William turned to his father at the end of the RAF flypast and said: "Oh my word, what a day," to which Charles replied: "Great theatre."
During another touching moment on the balcony, the three generations shared a casual conversation about the aircraft taking part in the flypast. Freeman claimed that while William was speaking with Kate, King Charles interrupted to ask: "What is that?" while pointing towards an aircraft flying overhead. William responded: "Errr, is that Poseidon?" before Prince George joined the conversation, replying: "It's a Poseidon, yeah."
Endearing Moment Between George and Louis
Earlier that day during the Trooping the Colour carriage procession, George and Louis shared an endearing moment as they were spotted smiling and chatting while travelling along The Mall in an open carriage on a gloriously sunny morning. A professional lip reader later revealed what she believes the brothers were discussing. The expert told The Sun that Louis asked George: "Should I wave?" George then reportedly replied: "It's up to you, I can't believe how sunny it is." Louis is then said to have responded: "Let's do it together," before the brothers waved to the cheering crowds.
