Prince William has shared a heartfelt Mother's Day tribute to his late mother, Princess Diana, posting an unseen photograph and a moving message on social media. The Prince of Wales wrote: 'Remembering my mother, today and every day. Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today. Happy Mother's Day. W'.
The photograph, taken at Highgrove in 1984, shows a young Prince William with his mother in a field of flowers. Diana would have turned 65 this year. William was just 15 when she died in a car crash in Paris in 1997.
William has often spoken about ensuring his children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—know about their grandmother. In the 2017 documentary 'Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy', he said he 'constantly' talks to them about 'Granny Diana' at bedtime, adding: 'It's important that they know who she was and that she existed.'
In previous years, William shared Mother's Day cards made by his children for Diana. Charlotte's card read: 'Dear Granny Diana, I am thinking of you on mother's day. I love you very much. Papa is missing you. Lots of love Charlotte xxxxxxxxx'. George's card said: 'Dear granny Diana, Happy happy Mother's Day. I love you very much and think of you always, sending lots of love from George xxxxx.'
William continues to honour his mother's legacy through his charity work, particularly with homelessness charities, following in her footsteps.
