Prince Harry Steps Down from Sentebale Charity Role Honouring Princess Diana's Legacy
Harry leaves Sentebale charity role honouring Diana

Prince Harry has officially stepped down from his role as patron of Sentebale, the charity he co-founded in 2006 to honour his mother, Princess Diana. The organisation focuses on supporting children affected by HIV in Lesotho and Botswana.

The Duke of Sussex's departure follows his and Meghan Markle's decision to step back as senior royals in 2020. A spokesperson for Sentebale confirmed the news, stating: "We are grateful for his dedication and the impact he's made."

A Royal Legacy Continues

Sentebale, meaning "forget me not" in Sesotho, was established by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho to continue Princess Diana's humanitarian work. The charity has raised millions to support vulnerable children in southern Africa.

"While Prince Harry is moving on, the work of Sentebale remains as vital as ever," the charity's CEO emphasised. The organisation will continue its programmes providing education, healthcare and psychosocial support.

Shifting Royal Responsibilities

This resignation marks another step in Harry's transition away from formal royal duties. Since relocating to California, he has gradually relinquished several patronages, though remains committed to charitable causes through his Archewell Foundation.

Royal commentators note this move was expected following the couple's departure from royal life, but underscores the ongoing evolution of Harry's post-royal identity.
